Bomaderry Zieria (lZieria baeuerlenii)
The Bushland covers 250 hectares of predominantly public land, consisting of a plateau of sandstone through which the entrenched meandering course of Bomaderry Creek has created a ruggedly scenic environment.
It provides a buffer against pollution of the creek and is a reservoir of many rare and threatened plants and animals important to the nation.
Of particular significance, it is a refuge for plants and animals that were once common, but have now become rare. Here we find the extremely rare and threatened Bomaderry Zieria (Zieria baeuerlenii) a shrub which grows nowhere else beyond the confines of the Bushland. Numerous other threatened plants and animals find refuge here, including the Nowra Mallee, Brittle Midge Orchid, Giant Burrowing Frog, Glossy-Black Cockatoo, Gang Gang Cockatoo, Masked Owl, Powerful Owl, Sooty Owl, Square-tailed Kite, Grey-headed Flying-fox, Large-footed Fishing Bat, Greater Broad-nosed Bat, Yellow-bellied Glider and Eastern Pygmy Possum. All of these attributes, successfully persisting in an area which is so accessible to our rapidly growing population and the growing number of visitors to the Shoalhaven, gives the Bomaderry Creek Bushland its special significance.

Nestled between the suburbs of Bomaderry and North Nowra it features an extensive system of walking tracks along the Creek and beyond providing access to a grand array of ever changing scenery from vistas of Cambewarra Mountain, the rugged beauty of the entrenched gorge, the magnificent wildflower displays of the sandstone tops, to the enclosed beauty of the rainforest and watercourse of the gorge bottom.
It is topographically and biologically diverse, providing a very special focus for the recreational, educational and conservation needs of the community.
